Good themes about friendship and playing to your skills in the background of a fun set of characters and scenery, complete with wonderful skills, quirks, and character defects. (The techno-centaur with the tinfoil hat to block invasive thoughts has to be my favorite although who couldn’t bond with a flatulence jet propulsion dwarf – close second – and what girl couldn’t love a girl commando who was the best pilot in class.) I read the series trying to find engaging, fun, and stimulating reading for my very preteens. The writing.is very well done with lots of tongue-in-cheek humor They can even get some vicarious life lessons in without breaking a tear out. I have a child with an emotional disability who still has the right and wrong skills of a three-year-old in a ten-year-old body. This kind of story-learning helps Bravo to Holly and Artemis!
