I got the full set of all 9 books as a gift and didn’t know anything about them. From the beautiful imagery on all of the covers I wasn’t sure what to expect story-wise and I ended up being completely blown away by them. I have read all 9 books in 8 days because I couldn’t put them down. They’ve made me cry and laugh out loud and they’ve made me anxious and angry too.

They’ve definitely made me fall in love with the morally grey Aaron Warner with all his golden beauty (and also a little bit with Adam and Kenji). Everything about the characters and the settings were totally real to me and I was completely immersed in the story to the point that when I had to stop reading for whatever reasons it took me a few seconds to reorientate myself with my actual surroundings.

I was so desperate for things to end well that my stomach was churning throughout the last chapters of the book. I loved Tahereh Mafi’s writing and I’m now going to look for more of her books.
