This book was much better than the first. It was 10x better from the very start. Sinners Condemned and Sinners Consumed did not need to be a duet. It’s not that I disliked this book, but it wasn’t anything great that really stuck with me. I get why people enjoyed it, but it felt like there was something missing.
I love that you finally get to see their relationship develop and I really do enjoy their banter. The smut happens quickly, but the romance is still a very slow burn. With having an entire book about them before this, it didn’t need to be so drawn out. There was no shift in the story, not much happened except for the relationship blossoming. I assumed there would be a big plot twist or something truly exciting, but that never came. The only exciting part is when their relationship crashes a bit. The whole book is focused on their romance. I have a love/hate relationship with how stubborn they were. Their banter is so funny, and they have chemistry, but if they would get their heads out of their asses, this wouldn’t have taken so long. There were some scenes that were very swoon worthy. I do like both characters as well as the side characters. More so in this than the first.
The ending felt a little rushed which didn’t make sense to me because the romance could’ve been condensed a little more so the ending could have been finished. You don’t really see when they truly mend the relationship, but watching how he dealt with their rough patch was so much funnier than I expected. It ends with a happily ever after, but not in the way I expected, and it felt as if it’s because the author was rushing to end the book. The writing was very well done and the duet had a lot of potential, but there could have been more. I would have liked it more if it was all one book.
