Blood of My Monster was an enjoyable dark mafia romance book. This is the first book in the Monster Trilogy, so be warned that this does end on quite a cliffhanger.

It is dual POVs of the main characters, Sasha and Kirill, and has some great tropes like, an age gap, close proximity, a captain-soldier dynamic, and a slow burn romance.

The overall premise was interesting and well developed. I really liked the Mulan vibes, as Sasha was pretending to be a man in the army. Her reasoning was quite intriguing as well and I’m curious to see how that all unfolds in the next book. There were also some action-packed, crazy, and intense moments, which I really enjoyed.

I will say though, there was quite a bit of repetitive dialogue, and I would have liked more scenes or chapters of Sasha and Kirill in the army as I actually really liked that aspect.

I was also surprised with Kirill, as he has been very mysterious in the other books, that he was actually quite funny. I loved his sarcasm and deadpan humor.

The romance between them was very much a slow burn but still passionate, intense, and steamy. They honestly worked so well together despite their differences. Kirill’s obsession and possessiveness of her seems to be just starting as well, so I’m excited to see how far he’ll go. I definitely want a bit more romantic development/romantic scenes between them in the next book though.

The ending was really good, that cliffhanger honestly left me with a lot of questions and in need for the next book as soon as possible.
